Refuge tells the story of Rita, who had to leave her home due to a series of uncontrollable events. This documentary finds out more about how Cardiff is a sanctuary for so many people who have found themselves in Wales and what life is like for people in unsettling circumstances. We hear a specific story of one individual in this film, but Rita is just 1 of thousands that has dealt with situations such as the ones spoken about in this film.
Refuge has already been shown in one independent film festival in Cardiff and the plan is to spread this film further in a hope to share the important messages within the documentary.
This film could not have been made without the continuous support of Oasis, a charity based in Splott, Cardiff. They provide a warm Welsh welcome to all refugees and asylum seekers who find themselves in Wales. The importance of their work deserves huge recognition.
